One To One: The Archaeology of a Fabrication Pipeline
Thursday, May 07
6:30 to 8:30 pm
A digital file carries the promise that what appears on screen can be faithfully summoned into the world by machines. Achieving fidelity between digital intention and material outcome, however, demands a choreography of design, code, motion, craftsmanship, and material.
This gallery exhibition brings together machine-made ink drawings and carved wood panels generated from a shared g-code. While the g-code specifies similar coordinates and velocities, it yields differing outcomes, whether pen on paper or end mill through wood grain. Through these differences, the work reveals the often invisible labor of human and machine that translates digital intention into physical form, prompting reflection on the reciprocity between virtual and physical realities.
